ARAG Australia is a subsidiary of the ARAG Group which is the leading legal insurer worldwide with more than 85 years experience in Legal Expense Insurance. Active in 19 countries- including the USA, Canada, UK, Europe and now Australia. With around 4,800 employees, the Group generates income of more than 2 billion euro.
ARAG Australia launched in 2020, and has been educating the Australian market on Legal Expense Insurance (LEI) a relatively immature and unknown insurance type in Australia.
Legal Expense Insurance is a business and personal insurance that provides affordable access to legal advice and representation for the pursuit and defence of legal disputes when individuals or businesses are faced with unforeseen legal matters. ARAG’s founding principle is to provide affordable access to the justice system.
The majority of Australians have health insurance, car insurance and home insurance. We understand that in exchange for a monthly or annual premium, we are covered for damages. The same should apply for unforeseen legal expenses. With Australia being reported as the second most litigious country per capita, after the USA, it is fast becoming an essential insurance type, just as it is in Europe, where 1 in 3 people have legal expense insurance.
ARAG Australia's LEI offers more than just a policy, is offers LegalAssist providing access to a Legal Helpline and Legal Document Centre to help mitigate risks and to gain advice as issues arise. Its like having a lawyer in your back pocket, for a fraction of the cost of engaging lawyers.
