Taylor Rhodes, Chief Executive Officer, leads Team Applied and is responsible for the company's overall strategy and operational execution. Taylor joined Applied in 2019 after serving as Chief Executive Officer of SMS Assist, the leading cloud-based software platform for multi-site property management. Previously, he was CEO of Rackspace, where he led the company’s growth from a cloud pioneer to an industry leader with more than $2 billion in revenue, while establishing the company as a mainstay on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For®. Prior to Rackspace, he served as a leader in enterprise, financial, and corporate strategy roles at Electronic Data Systems Corporation. Taylor is a former United States Marine Corps Infantry Officer and holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Steve Whitelaw

Steve Whitelaw manages the Canadian business sector and Applied Systems’ client and partner relationships. Steve has extensive experience across technology processes that empower brokers and insurers. Before joining Applied, he served as Vice President of IT Planning, Execution & Operational Effectiveness at Travelers Canada. Steve has participated in many industry association boards and committees, such as Health Claims for Automobile Insurance Processing (HCAIP), and served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Centre for the Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO). He holds a bachelor’s degree in science and a master’s in kinesiology from the University of Waterloo.

Jamie Ugarte, PMP

Jamie Ugarte has been in the premium finance industry for over 10 years, with experience in various roles including account and project management. As the VP Business Solutions, Jamie manages a team of technical and project management specialists and oversees the development, delivery, and implementation of FIRST Canada’s technical solutions to our insurance partners. Jamie is a certified project management professional with a BA in political science from the University of Western Ontario.

Stuart Murray has over 21 years of experience in the Australian financial services industry, specialising in credit assessment and mortgage underwriting. Prior to joining Brighten, Stuart was Head of Lending Australia and Responsible Manager at Resimac, where he was responsible for management of all aspects of Resimac’s Australian underwriting team. Prior to that, Stuart worked in mortgage credit assessment at St.George Bank and Bluestone Mortgages.
